Timothy Olyphant as as pyscho hacker Thomas Gabriel in Live Free or Die Hard

Die Hard, Die Hard. They cast the sexiest villains don’t they? Alan Rickman, Jeremy Irons (who I noticed has been remiss on this blog. This will be remedied ASAP), and now Timothy Olyphant.

Backstory: Thomas Gabriel was a former Department of Defense analyst who tried to warn his superiors about the US susceptibility to cyber warfare. His warnings were ignored and he was subsequently fired. Enraged, he lead a group of cyber terrorists to take down the US infrastructure.

This is clearly Hollywood’s version of what a hacker should be like: cool, calculated, ridiculously good looking, and just a tad unhinged. And I’m not complaining. I sure as hell wouldn’t pay money to go see a movie where the hacker looked like some guy from 4chan.

Also, it’s Timothy Olyphant who is flippin’ gorgeous. Serious old guy crush.
